Nhat and Liz Tran

Little Saigon, USA We have supported Liz Covington for several years in her ministry to Vietnam. Liz met Nhat in Vietnam and they were married, January 2nd of this year.
They are now going to minister to the 500,000 Vietnamese in southeast Los Angles, called Little Saigon. There is a tremendous need for Vietnamese-speaking workers in this area. Nhat and Liz are blessed and excited that they have been commissioned by the Assemblies of God US Missions to minister to some of the least-reached people in the US.
At first, Liz wasn’t sure how she felt about this shift from Asia to America. But as she prayed and sought the heart of God, He gave her an understanding of how right this next step is…
In large Vietnamese communities in the US, the people are just as isolated from the gospel as in Viet Nam. In communities such as these, most first generation adult immigrants learn little to no English. There is simply no need. The communities are virtually self-sustaining. And, even an immigrant who is conversational in English lacks the necessary language skills to understand the gospel message. So unless they are reached in their heart language—they will not be reached.
We feel and incredible sense of responsibility to reach the Vietnamese in America, because they are in our own backyard. They are on our turf—yet they are not adequately being reached. Even though they are within arms reach, it’s as though they are across an ocean because of the language barrier. And we feel we are uniquely suited to help meet this need. We feel it’s a part of why God brought us together. What an honor it is to be used by God in such a way!
Please pray with us. We know that “unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1
