What is it?

Since its inception in England, over 8 million people have attended an Alpha course in 155 countries around the world. The course is currently being held in tens of thousands of locations around the world. What is so great about this course that people all over the world will spend 1 night a week for 10 weeks at church?
Alpha is a fun, interesting course where there is a talk followed by honest discussions. The groups are small and safe. No question is too simple or too hostile. It teaches the basics on
Who Jesus is?

• Was He a real person?
• Why should you bother to go to church?
• How do you pray?
• What is the Holy Spirit all about?

Who is Alpha for? Any adult who is interested in learning about Jesus.

Do you have to be a member of River of Life Church to attend? No! Anyone can attend. It is for Christians new to the faith, people who are curious about Christianity, and for people who don't believe in God but want to see what Christianity is all about.

What happens during a basic evening? At our Alpha course, dinner is at 6:00. After dinner, there are a few announcements, a short singing-worship service, a video featuring Nikki Gumbel, then dessert, and finally a small group discussion for about 45 minutes. We end promptly at 8:00pm.

What happens after the course is over? Some of the people do join River of Life Church, some return to the church they came from, some continue life as they had been living it before attending Alpha. Everyone gains from the fellowship they experience during the course.

Join us for our next course. We offer the Alpha Course twice a year, beginning in September and January. There is a celebration dinner for this course at the beginning of the course. This is not only a dinner to celebrate the completion of the previous course, but a beginning for the next course. After dinner, we'll have a video that is the first of the next course. Currently we are meeting on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. at the church.
